Short story: Sophie
Hari Prasad Bhandari
A farmer was returning home after working in a field when he saw a strange creature on the road. He looked closer and said to himself, 'Aha! It's a cat. '
He loved pets. When he saw the cat soaking wet in the rain, he felt pity for her and took her home in his arms.
The children rejoiced when they saw the cat.
"Father, what should we call it?" The daughter asked.
"Let's keep Sophie." The son proposed. Everyone agreed.
The farmer's wife's name was known. She gave milk in a bowl. After drinking milk, Sophie started playing. The boys were happy.
Within a few days, Sophie grew up. But the meowing was not heard.
"Why doesn't this cat talk?" Janaki inquired.
"Oh!" The farmer showed ignorance.
After a few days, instead of meowing, Sophie began to wander around like a tiger and snarl at the kids. Everyone was shocked to see Sophie's activities.
The farmer showed it to the vet. After looking at Sophie, the doctor said, "It's not a cat, it's a tiger cub." If you keep it for a few more days, it will hurt you. Drive to the forest as soon as possible. ”
The farmer's heart began to pound when he heard the doctor's words. Janaki and her children began to tremble.
The farmer tried hard to send Sophie to the forest, but she refused. It started to feel like a sore throat. The farmer's anxiety was growing.
One evening the farmer was sitting in the living room watching TV in a worried manner. The children were together. News about Corona was coming on TV.
Watching the news, the son asked the farmer, "Father, what is this Corona?"
"Corona is just like Sophie," he said angrily. Entering the house as a cat, piging as a tiger and eating us if given a chance. That's why we should always be vigilant with it. ”
